Parents and guardians play an integral role as a Pathway School student begins the transition from school to adult world. In addition to working closely with the family to develop an appropriate Transition Plan, we also encourage families to participate in Transition workshops, planning meetings, and events offered by The Pathway School's Transition Services.
The Pathway School's Transition Coordinators support students ages 14 and older with personalized transition planning for post-high school education/training, employment and independent living goals. As students advance through their academic and support programs, they spend more time meeting with their Transition Coordinator to review topics, which may include:
- Goal setting and self-advocacy
- Accessing adult services such as job coaching, habilitation support or job training
- Utilizing public transportation or paratransit
- Researching academic options for continuing education after Pathway
Parents are encouraged to contact their child's Transition Coordinator by e-mail or by phone with ideas, insight, questions, and concerns about preparing for success after graduating from The Pathway School.
