Registered Behavior Technician / RBT

Registered Behavior Technician / RBT (Autistic Support) – Open Position

The primary function of the RBT is to work directly with students with significant behavioral and/or instructional needs, including students who require complex verbal behavior programming, daily implementation of a crisis management plan, and extensive data collection, graphing, and analysis.

11-month schedule (Education model/ School Year + ESY)

Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in: Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or related field. Please submit an unofficial transcript upon applying.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis coursework is a plus.
  • In some cases, undergraduate candidates currently enrolled in degree-seeking programs will be considered.
  • Active National certification as a Registered Behavior Technician is required.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working directly with children who have significant behavioral and/or instructional needs.
  • ABA experience (as RBT, BT, BHT, or TSS) required.
  • VB-MAPP experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent focus and ability to observe behavior and collect data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team atmosphere.
  • Experience working with students with autism, emotional/behavioral disorders, and/or intellectual disabilities.
  • Will need to attain certification in crisis prevention and safety holds.

Compliance Requirements

  • Must comply with Act 168 and submit a completed Sexual Misconduct Form.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory PA criminal background check, Child Abuse & FBI clearances and pass a drug test, as well as a TB Test (within last 3 months). Must possess a valid PA driver’s license and be able and willing to drive.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires a high level of energy. Physical activities can include both sitting and standing for long periods of time, lifting, climbing, bending/stooping, grasping, and pulling. Must have full range of motion to provide possible emergency care and/or administer effective/safety techniques. This position requires walking and could include working in both an indoor environment as well as an outdoor environment (cold/hot).

 

Professional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services with students with autism spectrum disorder and/or other neuropsychiatric/developmental disorders, under the direction of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assigned to the classroom.
  • Will apply techniques through individual and/or group sessions designed to meet the educational needs of the student, consistent with the goals contained in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP).
  • Will closely observe student behaviors, reliably collect data, and graph data to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of a student’s current programming.
  • Will collaborate with the classroom teacher to plan and implement classroom-based activities.
  • Will participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to develop students’ daily programming and IEPs.
  • Performs any other duties consistent with the functions for which qualified, as assigned by an appropriate supervisor.
