Dear Pathway Families:
This afternoon, Governor Wolf issued a “shelter at home” order for all of southeastern Pennsylvania to begin this evening. Additionally, the Governor ordered the closure of all Commonwealth Schools until (at least) April 6th. It is my understanding this is not likely to be his last school closure order.
Even with these announcements this afternoon, the Pathway School is working on rolling out a schedule of learning activities, related services, and enrichment for your children who are Pathway students. Our plan is to commence this new learning and services model by Monday, March 30th. Simultaneous to this planning session the Pathway School IT department has been working to prepare your children’s Pathway Chromebook for use at home. Right now, we are struggling to figure out how we can either
- Establish a Chromebook pick up at the school or
- Have the Chromebook delivered to family homes
We need a day or two to figure this out with the local authorities, so please be patient. We are still hopeful that anyone needing student Chromebooks will have them in their possession by the start of “remote learning” Monday, March 30th.
The Pathway School wants to be a resource for families while this national crisis continues. We are establishing a ‘hotline’ for families to call with questions or concerns regarding student behavior, mental health needs, etc. We expect that the hotline to be in operation by the end of this week.
This remains an evolving situation. We will continue to provide you with daily updates, and I have requested staff to reach out to families and check in on how things are going. We are not trying to pry or invade your privacy. We care about our students and their families and want to be of assistance during these stressful times.
Please take care of yourselves. Many of you have formed informal support groups as Pathway families, which is wonderful. Please let us know if there is anything you need.
